MID KENT MOTORCYCLE TRAINING LTD TERMS AND CONDITIONS COURSE REQUIREMENTS The following are Driving Standards Agency Regulations, and must be adhered to at all times on all courses: Students wishing to train must produce a valid provisional licence, or a full car licence with motorcycle entitlement. A valid UK licence consists of two parts - the photo card and the paper counterpart. Students must produce both parts at all times. For students with old 'paper' licences, a valid passport is required as photo ID. There are no exceptions. We advise Overseas Licence holders to apply for a UK provisional licence. It is not the responsibility of MKMT to check the validity of the student's licence. If you doubt the validity of your licence, check with the the DSA on 08700 101372. Students must be able to read a number plate from 20.2 metres [with glasses if required]. Students must wear appropriate clothing for riding a motorcycle. Jeans and sturdy footwear [walking boots, chunky ankle boots] are fine, shorts and flimsy trainers are not! Please be aware that if your clothing is not appropriate you may not be able to train, This is at the instructor’s discretion. CBT students are advised that they must complete each element successfully in order to receive their DL196 certificate. THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED. Any student failing to achieve the required standard of competency within the allotted time will be asked to return on another day to complete those elements at a cost of £70. This entirely at the discretion of the instructor and is not open to appeal. CBT students will be asked to signed a declaration before Element E [on-road training] takes place. This will confirm that the student is happy with the training received and the machine they are riding, and feels competent to ride on the road in the prevailing weather conditions. Failure to sign for whatever reason will mean not completing CBT and returning at a cost of £70. CBT will only be abandoned due to bad weather only if the instructor feels it is unsafe to do so. His decision is final and not open to appeal. If, in the event of extreme weather conditions, the instructor abandons training for the day, students will be booked in to complete at our mutual convenience. On full licence courses we will endeavour to supply the same instructor for the duration of your course. However we cannot guarantee this, therefore students must produce their valid UK licence plus valid CBT certificate on every training day. These documents can be stored in our office during your course. Students must arrive in plenty of time to start their course. Most courses are run in groups and therefore must start on time. Latecomers for CBT will not be permitted to join in, as every element must be completed in strict order. They will then be treated as having not completed the course, and will have to return another day, at a charge of £70. Full licence students arriving late may miss the whole session, though we will endeavour to add another session at a cost of £125. Each session is specific to the course to which it relates, and cannot be moved to the next day, ie a 5-day course runs on the 5 days designated to it, and those days cannot be mixed-and-matched with other courses. Failure to do a specific day can mean rescheduling the rest of the course at a charge of £125 per session plus test fees. Upon booking, students will be sent by email or post, a letter of confirmation stating the start times for their course and course requirements. Any CBT student who arrives but cannot comply for whatever reason will be treated as having not completed the course and must pay the return fee of and come back on another day. If on a full licence course, it may be possible to reschedule dates, but at a penalty of £125 per day plus loss of test fees. This cannot be guaranteed. THEORY TEST Students doing CBT do NOT need to take a Theory Test. Before starting any full licence course, candidates must have completed and passed the Motorcycle Theory Test, which can be booked by us on your behalf. There must be a minimum 10 working days between your Theory Test and the start of your training to allow for the possibility of a fail and retest, unless otherwise arranged. The Motorcycle Theory Test is NOT the same as the Car Theory Test. PAYMENT METHODS We accept cash, cheques, and all major credit and debit cards. Credit card payments are subject to a 3% surcharge. There are no surcharges for debit cards. CBT bookings must be paid for in full to secure a place. A minimum £50% of the total plus test fees is required to secure any full licence course. The balance must be paid in full 10 working days before the commencement of training. POSTPONEMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS We abide by the Distance Selling Regulation Act which states any booking made by credit or debit card over the phone can be cancelled for a full refund within 7 days. Aside from that, the following applies: Postponement or cancellation of CBT is only possible with 3 clear working days’ notice. Postponement or cancellation of any part of a Full Licence course is only possible with 10 clear working days’ notice. All cancellations and refunds are subject to 12.5% administration fee and will be paid by cheque. Credit card surcharges are non-refundable. RESCHEDULING DATES We will endeavour to train you at the specified times, but sometimes circumstances beyond our control make this impossible, therefore we reserve the right to change training schedules on any set day if we deem it necessary. Driving Standards Agency tests are sometimes rescheduled at short notice, and candidates should be aware that their test may not happen on the date originally agreed. DAMAGE WAIVER INSURANCE All course fees include damage waiver insurance at £20 per session or full day. Customers can opt out of this insurance but will have to pay for any downtime and damage caused to any vehicle in their possession, at £50 per day plus labour plus parts for CBT bikes, or £100 per day plus labour plus parts for any other vehicle, and will need to submit a valid credit or debit card number before being allowed to train.
